Sakana AI Unveils Marlin: Enterprise Agent Generates 100-Page Reports
Publicité

Tokyo-based Sakana AI has launched its first commercial product, Sakana Marlin, an autonomous research agent designed for enterprises. Positioned as a "Virtual CSO," Marlin streamlines complex strategic tasks by generating detailed reports and presentation slides, replacing weeks of manual work with hours of automated analysis. The tool processes one research topic, then independently plans hypotheses, sources data, and validates findings, delivering structured outputs tailored for executives. Reports can span 60–100 pages, citing 60–80 sources, while slides are created using image-generation AI.

Powering Marlin: AB-MCTS and Workflow Automation

At the core of Marlin is AB-MCTS (Adaptive Branching Monte Carlo Tree Search), a novel approach to AI reasoning developed by Sakana. Unlike traditional methods that rely on repeated sampling, AB-MCTS treats problem-solving as a tree-search process, allowing the system to either "widen" by generating new hypotheses or "deepen" by refining existing ones. This adaptive strategy, combined with workflow automation from Sakana’s AI Scientist project (published in Nature), enables Marlin to handle long-horizon research tasks efficiently.

From Beta to Commercialization: Real-World Testing

Sakana refined Marlin through a closed beta in April 2026, where 300 professionals tested it on tasks like market research and risk analysis. The tool now partners with MUFG and has secured strategic investment from Citigroup. While conventional deep-research tools take minutes to tens of minutes, Marlin’s focus on depth over speed makes it ideal for enterprises needing comprehensive insights. Its ability to route steps across multiple models—such as Gemini 2.5 Pro, o4-mini, and DeepSeek-R1—further enhances accuracy, with experiments showing improved task completion rates.

Sakana’s Marlin represents a shift in enterprise AI, prioritizing strategic depth over rapid responses. As businesses seek tools to navigate complex decisions, Marlin’s blend of advanced algorithms and real-world testing positions it as a transformative addition to the AI landscape.
